Stage I of HAE’s education program is to establish world-class Provincial English Language and Information Technology Education Centers (PEITECs), under the brand name ABC, throughout Afghanistan. Phase I of the program will involve the establishment of HAE Headquarters in Kabul and the implementation of the Eastern PEITECs model, covering Nengarhar, Kunar and Laghman provinces.
If fully funded, the Eastern PEITECs model is designed to train a total of 6,480 students a year of which 3,480 will be English language and 3,000 IT students. Fifty per cent of the program recipients are hoped to be women.
The main objective of HAE is to increase the quality and availability of English and IT education throughout the provincial regions of Afghanistan. The PEITECs will provide access to Afghan men and women for a world-class English and IT education. World-standard English Language and IT Teacher Training will strengthen both the delivery of instruction by qualified teachers and job training opportunities for up to 200 teachers.
